"Amon Amarth / Viking Metal Band Sweden" Amon Amarth is a band from the town of Tumba, Sweden Viking / Melodic Death Metal. Originally formed in 1988 under the name "Scum", became Amon Amarth in 1992, the name taken from the book The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, which means "Mountain of Doom" ("Mount Doom") in Sindarin, also called language "the language of the Grey-elves," "the language of Beleriand", "noble language", and repeatedly referred to in the books as simply "the Elvish tongue."
