Actually to be a muslim is a continuing process. Only taking an islamic name or once converting to Islam can not make a man muslim perfectly. 'Iman' means beleaf from heart and oral proclaimation as well. Someday Michael Jackson declared himself a muslim probably. But his activities don't prove that he has strong beleaf on Allah jalla shanuhu & Nabi salla Allahu alaihi oa sallam.So we can not declare him as a muslim. If he beleaved on Allah jalla shanuhu and nabi salla Allahu alaihi oa sallam, Allah will surely give him his proper reward. But we should not say anything whether he was a muslim or not. Allah knows the best.

I've also heard something like "he converted to Islam 3 yrs ago and with his final concert he was about to make this public announcement".
However Allah decided otherwise for him.
If he really converted may Allah forgive him his sins, one thing that a lot of people fail to understand, asking for forgiveness imply that only Allah will account for his sin and do as He pleases (Forgive him or not).
He could be a pedophile but where is the proof for that, until lately I heard the first child who accused him retracted and said that it was his father who forced him to do so.
What matters is that if he really converted to Islam, his previous sins are forgiven.
BTW, why did they bury an empty coffin during the funeral?
