Dear all,

On Wednesday 18th April at 10 a.m., the Malta-Cuba Society will be organising a press conference at 60/a, Strait Street (corner with Old Theatre Street), Valletta, Malta. The President of the Malta-Cuba Society, Michael Camilleri and members of the committee will be addressing the activity. The subjects of discourse on that day will be the:

a) Launch of Euro Brigade Jose Marti in Malta. Next September, the Malta-Cuba Society will be sending a youth brigade to Cuba to participate in the Euro Brigade Jose Marti, the latter being a yearly activity organised by the Cuban Friendship Institute for European countries;
b) The U.S embargo on Cuba;
c) Free The Five. The Cuban Five being five Cuban men who are in U.S. prison, serving four life sentences and 75 years collectively, after being wrongly convicted in U.S. federal court in Miami, on June 8, 2001;
d) Posada Carriles. Louis Posada Carriles who has confessed in participating in a number of terrorist plots against Cuba, continues to get refuge in the U.S. where he is now held by U.S. authorities in Texas on the charge of illegal presence on national territory. The U.S. has ignored Venezuela’s request for the extradition of Posada Carriles to face trial for the 1976 airline bombing;
e) Commemoration of the 17th April 1961 events - Playa Giron.
