UN urges US to end Cuba embargo

The Malta-Cuba Society notes with satisfaction that the 62nd General Assembly of the United Nations on Tuesday 30th October 2007 voted overwhelmingly in favour of ending the 45-year-old United States trade embargo against Cuba.

The Resolution was passed by 184 votes to four, with one abstention. This was the 16th year in a row that the United Nations has urged the lifting of the stiff sanctions imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island in 1962.
