What do others think? I think it will be great if we can get the stats working today. I haven't seen those amazingly valuable hi5 stats for 4 days now.

Where to start? Apps don't load half the time. gadgets.io.makeRequest returns blank. Basically, apps don't work.

Affinitive,
I created a very small app of my own using gadgets.io.makeRequest, and I don't seem to have any problems, so maybe there's a specific manner of using it that is causing a problem. Feel free to take a look at my code in http://siruguri.net/hi5ApplicationXMLs/application_ showdevs.xml and let me know if you are able to start from here and modify it to see when it breaks. As you can see I am making a simple request to search.yahoo.com, with the q= parameter passed in. I am not a great programmer, so excuse the bad UI, but I think you can see the search results from Yahoo show up for 'google' which is the value of q= parameter. Please let me know if that helps. sameer. Posted by Sameer Siruguri

Affinitive,
sorry to hear your apps aren't loading. I am playing with some toy applications which seem to do ok, but I know we've also had large scale website issues last week, which you might have been affected by. Please let us know if this week is any better. Regards, Sameer. Posted by Sameer Siruguri

Sameer thanks for your help. I tried copying your test app and took out view=”preview” so I could test it on the canvas.
Half the time, it loads with Unable to get content from http://www.affinispace.com/opensocial/test/x.html When it does load, it seems to work with the yahoo url. If I try other urls like http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=yahoo&btnG=Google+Search It always returns blank. Posted by Affinitive

Affinitive,
We've had trouble with that error message you've noted. Refreshing usually gets rid of it, so it shouldn't be a problem in developing apps, though it's definitely a bad user experience so it's on our to-do list to fix. As for Google, I've noticed that they block access to certain ISPs. I can't get to many of their pages via even a browser when I run it on the shell account on Dreamhost. Your mileage may vary. Please try some other less trafficked sites, like say, www.nike.com, or www.whitehouse.gov. I'm going to guess it's not a problem with the makeRequest call but with the individual host you are trying to access. Sameer. Posted by Sameer Siruguri

All my makerequests are working fine (Now that I've said so, let's see if they still work)
As for the stats, I noticed that every time "Rel. Performance" starts showing up in stats, stats break. What's the relation? ;-) Posted by mNeo mNeo
