Its true...things have changed a lot and its often among boys in India discussed sarcastically after the results of every exam "That offcourse girls stood again in the top ten :)"

# But still there are such heinous practices of female foeticide, and as part of the general selection of child parents opt for male child and abort the female foetus without taking appropriate consent from the mother.

# What about dowry it is still prevalent in one or the other form and consent of the daughter taken least into consideration before marriage. Dowry is still a stigma and prevalent in various parts of india...
