Why do persons abandon pets?
In summer some persons abandon their pets, along the streets.
Pett give us all and these "citizens" abandon them.

I think you are right about this. And remember that many persons take a pet like a toy, not like a living being.

With the foreclosure crisis here, we've seen an alarming rate of increase in the number of abandoned pets:( Many are at least taking them to the local shelter or trying finding other homes first, but so many more are not.

Shadow,
I agree with some of the reasons expressed here. Some people just dont realize the responsibility that comes along a pet. I heard that specially birds are hard to take care of and are among the animals that end up being more neglected or abandoned. Interesting dont you think?
Generally speaking I think that there is a disregard for animal rights perhaps we dont consider them as worthy as humans. If we explore this topic it could very well take us to a diet of peace.
I just attended a lecture about vegetarianism and the speaker called it a diet of peace :)
What do you think?

To abandon a pet is like abandoning a loyal friend. If those humans would have a gram of honor ... or simply a bit of feelings ...
A cat can survive and it doesn't suffer so much, but a dog, the dog is social, for a dog the owner is part of the life, without the owner a dog waits for the death.
To abandon a dog is like to abandon a child.

The pets are the members of family and once we have such it's our commitment and duty to take care of them.
Sometimes pets are given as a birthday or christmas present. And in a few days they end up on the street or rubbish bin. It's a horrible careless attitude. So when people think of giving presents they should consider very carefully if the pet is the right gift...
