Manchurian "Live" Bow Hair

I have spent the last 2 years searching for higher quality hair in China. We traveled to Harbin, to Mongolia, and to other areas in the North Eastern part of China, an area formerly known as "Manchuria". There, we discovered a village where horses are the main agricultural beast of burden. They don't have farm machinery in this village, so the animals are treated like kings, and live long lives. Their tail hair is culled from the animals when they are living, and saved carefully in warm, dry barns. When we visited this group of farmers, and told them what we wanted, they proudly presented this horse hair to us. They use the hair for making clothing, whips and other products, too numerous to name here. We thought the hair was of such fabulous quality, that we signed a contract with the elders of the village to buy this hair from them. We also contracted with our workshop in Anping to process the hair.

We have a personal relationship with the craftspeople who prepare our line of hair products for the western marketplace. This means we can offer unique hair products, customize bundle lengths and weights and work closely with our customers to provide hair that meets their needs. The hair is cleaned with a mild detergent (no bleach), rinsed and dried in a cool dark warehouse for several days, turned carefully and by hand. The hair is then quickly sorted and combed (with hackles), tied off in a bundle. The hair is then drawn, butted off and tied into loose bundles. What happens next determines the quality of the Bow hair, and our grading system. Orders of 10# or more (approx 5 k) will receive an additional 10% off the total amount ordered.

Pricing/Sizes

Manchurian Live bow hair is only available in one length because it has been removed from the animal while it still lives. No larger size bundles are available at this time. Manchurian live bow hair
