I'm grad student at Harvard studying for my phd. I'm very active and am always full of energy. I'm down to earth and really know how to have a good time.
Lee Iacocca has turned out a book in which he identifies Bush and the current Administration as a bunch of Bo-Zos. I find myself in agreement with most of what he says in the press release found below. First I'll write my response, then under my response you can read his letter.
I've already written and shared/re-shared my views on Bush and his followers, HE AND HIS ADMINISTRATION HAS MADE ITSELF THE ENEMY OF ALL AMERICANS. I've written many letters to congressmen and women that fell on deaf ears. Not enough people seem to care. Not enough are willing to act up. Our police state wouldn't listen anyway. Our congress is for all intensive purposes useless and our military belongs to the police state. State and local governments aren't much better. If local politicians aren't pandering to those in power they are helplessly hamstringed. The most recent elections and the fact that the voice of the people is still mostly ignored should be proof enough of that.
The way that I see it today is....the US is suffering punishments for its long-term greed, ignorance, bigotry and the many curses born of religions that breed delusional fanaticism. I am not an atheist but I am not loyal to the religious right or anything close to it. If we knew better, we should be terrified of Bush and his kind. They are going to continue destroying America throughout the remainder of their terms and lives if they are aloud to. This group has developed into a massive organization of ultimate fatalists that now believes that they can consume the America they were once given to further their own selfish and unsustainable lifestyles.
Our nation (as a whole) has not answered several calls to action and as a result, they are receiving the consequences. But many do not feel responsible regardless because they do not associate with the US and what is going on in the world. The vast majority of Americans do not seem to know or want to know what is going on and even if they did, they have become too lazy or too overwhelmed to do anything about our current situation. People who want to take action for change seem to be outnumbered 100:1.
Young people today bury themselves in video gaming and last-fling consumerism in between shifts at their dead end, low-paying jobs. They then grow angry and depressed because they can't afford the rent or to continue in school, yet they aren't knowledgeable of the political process because they exist in a constant state of disruption, disassociation, isolation and withdrawal. They don't want to be bothered with political concerns that support a country they no longer believe in, some never have! Many young adults today do not identify with being 'US ' citizens. Yes, they take ownership of their own personal world but they have an unprecedented experience of being isolated islands unto themselves in a world gone mad. Many of them have said to me that the country they were born into has been stolen by the wealthy and big money corporations before they arrived and that they are simply trying to survive in a new dictatorship disguised as a democracy. Young people today are waiting for a bloody revolution to begin. If or when that happens, the anarchy stored up in them will be released and we will all finally witness the hidden rage and violence that has grown to enormous proportions within them. Our curiousity about their missing voice will be instantly satisfied and we will then understand our differences.
Yes, we do need to do something for the sake of our young people and ourselves. We have ripped these young people off and stolen their futures as young Americans, leaving them with an enourmous and impossible mess to clean up. We are nursing a generation of mentally, emotionally wounded people who will eventually rise up but who are ill prepared to take on the problems of the day.
We do need leaders who are able to make the big decisions that Americans have called for. We can no longer go on, business as usual and turn our heads. This is our land, our lives and our government. Yes, let's take it back from those currently in power!
