About Me
|
About Me: Hmmm. I'm a capricorn, and 1 of a kind or of a few born on the first day of the year on that fateful day in the 70s. I'm in the entertainment business if it can be considered that, with a full time position as a graphic designer. I've been self employed since I ripped up my resume in 1994 when I needed a break from work to study and they wouldn't give it to me... I decided at that point that I would control my destiny from there on forward.
I'm a music person. Actually, I think that's an understatement. Music keeps me alive. Now I have another love. Her name is Kayla, and she's my best friend and 1st love, pushing music into a close second. I throw events based in my second love however, that help take care of the first lol. It is a commonly held belief that I love old school first and foremost, but really and truly, I'm a bboy standing in my bboy stance (without the guitar). I'm also an R'N'Bboy as evident in my r&b collection and the fact that I know the lyrics to virtually every slow jam in our generation's collective knowledge. I guess living in Toronto all my life gave me perspective... I was a houser (read: bells and a peak) in the late 80's. I also frequented rent parties ala King Turbo and the reggae scene around that same time... But I grew up listening to Tom Rivers on CFTR, CFNY and CKLN for hip hop on Saturdays, and House on Sundays. With this said, I know music from Tom Cochrane to Zhane... and all points in between and preceding. But enough about me.
Go on? Okay... I went to school at Francis Libermann in Scarborough, then on to do a degree at U of Toronto, Scarborough Campus. I watch tennis when it's on, and love Seinfeld, Family Guy and Robert Deniro movies. My favorite dish is any pasta with alfredo and chicken and/or shrimp; singapore style rice noodle being a close second. Ice cream? Pralines and cream. Car? Realistic - Audi A4/Acura TL tie... unrealistic? Lotus Esprit Turbo.
I throw a few parties... I'm only putting this in as I get a lot of email asking if I'm the guy from AMNESIA... Yes, he and I and I am him. I throw that event with partners Mark G (Starting from Scratch) and Jason Chambers of Attitude Sound Crew... That was my first major event, and let to me branching out into further planning. The Ian Andre Espinet Entertainment roster now consists of tons of parties in the R&B, Soca and hip hop scenes - SOUL KITCHEN, BIG PEOPLE FETE (with Dr. Jay); A Rollerskating Jam Named... Saturdays; ICON; The ONE; SOCAHOLICS etc... In the past, I ran a party called Trilogy - one of Toronto's best (in my opinion) and longest running Saturday night spots, Kajmere. That party; X-Factor, my 5 year old long weekend Sunday night have been retired... Stay tuned for the newest event, The B-Boy Document... and my 2 sections (orange and red) in Calalloo for Caribana 2006...

Tie: You're not having it? Good me either...
Desiderata...
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
