Natural Beautys
Hi my name is Robin. I'm originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but I have lived in Tn for about 30+ years. I'm so glad I found this group to get encouragement to go natural again. I tried to get locs about 3 years ago but got impatient with the process because my loctician said that my hair was curly and soft and it may take awhile to loc (a year or two). I probably would have kept on with it, but gray hair was rearing it's ugly head (in the front) and I couldn't dye it because of the starter locs. About a month ago I've started chopping at the permed hair and have stopped perming, now sporting a short curly doo riddled with silver gray. I feel like I'm too young to be old and too old to be young (52) lol! My personality doesn't fit the gray hair. Any suggestions on what I could do as I go natural for the gray?
Thank you Prettyeyes! That is a very good suggestion. I will certainly keep that in mind as I am deciding...Thanks again
Nice to meet you all! Have a wonderful day!
Hi, everybody *waving*. I'm Jai...mostly, from the DMV area (DC/MD/VA). Abt 14 yrs ago, i decided to go from "gettin my hurr did" every week, to (finally!) loc'ing. I had to wait until i was mentally and spiritually in the "right place" for this journey. I did natural hair before (braids, twists, cornrows, and a natural mohawk << I'm a musician, so *shrug* EVERYthing has been abt self-expression! LoL), and i've probably done every color known to man --and a few created by my former stylist!-- but (Insha ALLAH) i will NEVER give up my 'locs.
Btw, all... RAMADAN MUBARAK!!!
Hello everyone! I'm Jennette and I'm from VA. I have gone from natural to permed and back four times in my adult life. But this time around I am sticking with the natural. I am actually locked now (started in April), just waiting on them to mature...I have baby locks right now. I am definitely enjoying the journey and I have gotten so many compliments being natural and locked than I ever did when I had permed hair so I know I am really doing me now!!! I am committed to this 100% and I am NEVER going back!!!
Hello My name is Kisha, I'm originally from Louisianna but been in Texas pretty much all my life now. I have been going natural since November of last year. I had braids all the way up until this year. So I'm natural for 6 months now and I am so loving it. I get so many compliment from men and women thats says this really becomes me. I added color of course because even though natural is low maintenance but very expensive to keep up (meaning products) I can't wait to see the results of my hair in the near furture. My mom has been natural for 7 years now and her hair is down her back. I would love to hear and see hair tips and styles.

IM EMPRESS WISDOM, ORIGINALLY FROM QUEENS, NY...LIVING IN NC BUT ON MY WAY BACK TO NY FOR GOOD I THINK. IVE HAD MY LOCS SINCE '99 AND WILL NEVER GO BACK TO PROCESS HAIR. ITS BEEN A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY FOR ME OVER THE YRS BUT NOW IM VERY CONTENT.
JAH BLESS
I lover the look and feel of locs but afraid I lack the patience. I wear my hair in various braids, twists and sometimes I wear a very large afro. I love the feel and texture of our natural hair and feel it is the most beautiful and versatile hair a person can have.
Hope everyone is having a great evening.

Hello Prettyeyes. Thank you for the Invite. My name is Annette and I reside in North Carolina. I look forward to sharing information with the group.
Hi Prettyeyes, thanks for the invite. My name is Rhonda and I currently live in Augusta, GA. I decided to go natural because relaxers were thinning out my hair. Last month I celebrated the one year anniversary of my big chop. Even after I did my bc I would not wear my natural hair out. For the first two months I wore a weave because I didn't feel pretty with my short tightly coiled locks. But as I came across other sistas who were rocking their natural hair they boosted my confidence. I love my nautral hair, wouldn't change it for the world.
