  • About Me

    • Jazz is number one. Both fusion and classical. Chuck Mangione, Kenny G, Earl Klugh and Tim Weisberg!

    • Avengers: Age of Ultron. Pixels. 90 Minutes in Heaven!! WAR ROOM is by far one of the best!! Chi-Raq is a good Spike Lee movie. As always, he keeps you thinking...

    • No time for TV!!! Except perhaps the NFL playoffs and the Superbowl

    • "Gaia's Garden"-A Guide to Home-Sale Permaculture. Landscaping and mostly veggies for rooftop gardens

    • L. A. Lakers for basketball and the Rams (NFC) and Raiders (AFC)

    • Landscape designs, chess and scrabble!! Permaculture, green roof and green wall designs! 2017 here we come!!

    • Looking forward to getting maximum production from our gardens this year and establishing a food forest on at least one site!! Roanoke is moving in a very positive direction for green technology. And the Tree Stewards and community gardens are a very important part of this picture.

    • Eyes, mind, and the rest is for you to find out!

    • My love for gardening is reaching new heights! Planting w/o chemical fertilizers or pesticides is a must! We, as a society, have overused chemicals far too much!! Stay tuned for more details to be posted as the gardens develop!!

    • Another large garden project on the table for Roanoke, Va. New plans are in the making for a food forest in northwest Roanoke!January 29, 2015: Growing Goodwill Community Garden and Food Forest!

    • Just lost all phone numbers this week! Call me so I can update contacts!! Now the battery is not holding a charge very long?!

    • Roanoke Tree Stewards has an ongoing training every year for volunteers to learn more about trees. What a wonderful addition to my Horticulture degree. And the more I learn, the more I realize what I don't know!

    • Fall Gardens are well underway! Call me later today, if you can help with the planting and/or distribution to one or more of the gardens; as I will not be able to cover all areas. Remember that these plants were donated to help with the local gardens from my teacher at VWCC. He is very sharp with plant ID and has an awesome nursery (Snow Creek Nursery). Many thanks to him for his assistance both in and outside of the college arena. I could no doubt fill up all 3 gardens; the YMCA Express, 6th & Loudon, and Seed2Seed and still have some left for other areas

    • Every Tuesday our Gainsboro Branch YMCA will have garden classes from 4-5:30 pm. For all interested kids from 8 and up!! This will continue until August 11th! So far 320 plus pounds collected!!After picking 53 lbs., that brings the total to over 1,000 lbs. for the year!!

    • Three gardens have been planted for the Fall. We have collected over 800 lbs. of produce from the YMCA garden. 2,000 lbs. of peat moss went to the garden at St. Paul's church and more than 30 fruit trees went to the Goodwill Garden and Food Forest!! WOW!!!

    • Twelve months out of every year is the season for gardening! Planning, composting, and seed storage is well underway now! Starting seeds indoors soon for early spring planting!! Never a dull moment for nature lovers!

    • The 12-month garden plans are well underway! Garlic and onions going in now and plots are being fertilized as we speak... Stay tuned?! Potatoes going in soon. Spring is here, no matter what the weather says

    • Furnace went out at the worst time. Cold as he.... March 12th, 2017

    • Well, the ground is being prepped for this spring. And the weather is in sync with what we have planned. Now for the designs.

    • Lettuce and spinach are both holding up quite well for this weather. Still looking good in January.
